Franklin player among Built Ford Tough Players of the Week

Franklin's Darius Floyd was among six student-athletes honored on Wednesday as Built Ford Tough Texas High School Players of the Week.

Floyd, a senior running back for Class 2A Franklin, is joined by Marcos Hernandez of El Paso Franklin in 5A, Quade Coward of Cleburne in 4A, Cecil Johnson of Gonzales in 3A, Jalen Garza of Anson in Class A and Daniel Davidson of Addision Trinity Christina Academy for private schools.

This is the seventh consecutive year that Ford Motor Company is recognizing six outstanding student-athletes each week during the 2012 season. The Built Ford Tough Texas High School Football Player of the Week program honors one student-athlete in six of the state's athletic classifications every week during the high school football regular season for his accomplishments on and off the field.

Hernandez rushed for 270 yards and four touchdowns on 12 carries and turned a screen pass into a 76-yard score in El Paso Franklin's 41-10 win over El Paso Americas.

Coward completed 21 of 31 passes for 395 yards and three scores and carried 20 times for 155 yards and two more touchdowns in Cleburne's 61-59 wino ver Burleson.

Johnson rushed for 259 yards and five touchdowns in his team's 43-23 win over Giddings.

Floyd carried just 13 times but rushed for 388 yards and scored on carries of 67, 53, 35, 62, 45, 22 and 54 yards in a 69-34 win over Elkhart.

Garza passed for a career-high 372 yards, completing 14 of 17 passes, and tossed scoring strikes of 14, 23, 22, 2, 6 and 21 yards in his team's 61-25 win over Winters.

Davidson completed 34 of 62 passes for 499 yards and eight touchdowns in his team's 63-47 win over Plano Prestonwood.
