White Oak junior receiver Jansen McCurdy was one of six players recognized on Wednesday as Built Ford Tough Texas High School Players of the Week.

McCurdy, who caught seven passes for 270 yards and four touchdowns in White Oak's 38-28 win over previously unbeaten Troup last week, was the Class 2A selection. He was joined by Trevorris Johnson of Alief Taylor in Class 5A, Rodolfo Castillo of Laredo Martin in 4A, Jordan Fraga of Devine in 3A, Riley Richardson of Wink in Class A and Ben Griffin of Houston St. John's for private schools.

This is the seventh consecutive year that Ford Motor Company is recognizing six outstanding student-athletes each week during the 2012 season. The Built Ford Tough Texas High School Football Player of the Week program honors one student-athlete in six of the state's athletic classifications every week during the high school football regular season for his accomplishments on and off the field.

McCurdy, who also earned offensive Player of the Week honors from the Longview News-Journal this week, hauled in scoring passes of 72, 60, 44 and 42 yards against Troup. Defensively, where he played about 70 percent of the snaps, he knocked down a pass in the end zone late and also returned a punt 59 yards for a score.

"Jansen has tremendous natural ability, and he's working so hard to learn the techniques of the position," White Oak head coach Gerry Stanford said. "Whether it's summer 7-on-7 drills or staying late after practice, he's totally focused on getting better every day."

Johnson carried 36 times for 342 yards and three touchdowns in Alief Taylor's 35-7 win over Aldine.

Castillo carried 28 times for 437 yards and five touchdowns in a 62-27 win over Corpus Christi Moody.

Fraga scored five rushing touchdowns in Devine's 48-6 win over Lytle.

Richardson carried 23 times for 149 yards and a touchdown and passed for two more scores in a 19-15 win over Iraan. He also racked up nine tackles on defense.

Griffin carried 37 times for 221 yards and two touchdowns in a 27-21 win over Houston Kinkaid.
