Lobos' Fisher wins 12-5A golf title; Lady Lobos bound for regional tourney

CANTON - Longview's Reed Fisher fired back-to-back rounds in the 70s, closing with a 76 on Tuesday at Twin Lakes Golf Course to earn the individual District 12-5A championship and earn a berth in the regional tournament.

Fisher had rounds of 74 and 76 for a 150 total, earning the district title by three shots over Rockwall's Dylan Yarbrough. Mesquite Horn's Tyler Stout (155) finished third and grabbed the second regional spot since Rockwall will go as a team after winning district.

Rockwall Orange finished with a 638, followed by Rockwall-Heath Black (663), Tyler Lee Red (666), Longview Green (668), Mesquite Horn Red (692), Tyler Lee White (705), Heath Red (715), Mesquite Maroon (733), Rockwall White (750), Longview White (805), North Mesquite (850) and Mesquite Horn White (883).


CANTON - The Longview Lady Lobos, paced by freshman Lila Robinett's round of 88, placed second at the District 12-5A Golf Tournament on Tuesday at Twin Lakes. It was shortened to one day due to rain Wednesday.

Rockwall finished with a 374 as a team to win the district title. Longview was second with a 385, followed by Tyler Lee (421), Rockwall Heath (454), Longview's JV (459) and North Mesquite (529).

Longview and Rockwall advanced to the regional tournament based on their team finishes.

Earning all-district honors for Longview were Robinett, Cheyann Alford and Emily Gruppi from the varsity squad and Meaghan McNamara from the JV. Second team picks were Mykayla Fontaine, Allessia Scribner and Hannah Brown. Blanca Woolley and Emily McCarty were honorable mention picks.
