Kilgore takes on Frisco Wakeland in regional soccer tourney

The Kilgore High School soccer team, making its fourth straight trip to the Region II Soccer Tournament, will take on Frisco Wakeland in a 5 p.m. contest today at Standridge Stadium in Carrollton.

The Bulldogs (21-3-4) advanced to the regional tournament with a 3-0 win over Ennis on Tuesday in Forney. Kilgore opened the playoffs with a 3-0 win over Athens before knocking off Pittsburg in overtime (2-1) and defeating John Tyler (2-1).

Kilgore has made back-to-back state tournament appearances.

Frisco Wakeland (17-7-4) has not allowed a goal in four playoff games, notching 2-0 wins over McKinney North, Carrollton Newman Smith, Heritage and Molina.

The winner of today's game will meet either North Dallas or Poteet at 1:30 p.m. on Saturday for the regional championship and a berth in next week's state tournament.
