Red-hot Pump Jacks win seventh straight

THE WOODLANDS - Ty Marlow tied the game with a two-run home run in the sixth, J.J. Robinson gave East Texas the lead for good with a pinch hit home run in the eighth and the Pump Jacks stayed on a roll Friday with a 10-7 Texas Collegiate League win over The Woodlands Strykers.
East Texas has won seven in a row to improve to 17-15 overall and 2-0 in the second half of TCL play. The loss, the seventh in a row for the Strykers, drops The Woodlands to 9-23 and 0-2.
The Pump Jacks built a 2-0 lead with lone runs in the first two frames. Matthew Dickey walked and later scored on a Joey Armstrong single in the first, and Nate Esposito singled and scored on a double by Ryan Hope in the second.
After The Woodlands used five hits and an error to build a 5-2 lead after two innings, East Texas stormed back to tie things in the top of the third.
Dickey once again got things started, reaching on an error, swiping a base and later scoring on an error. After Garrett McMullen doubled, Marlow delivered a two-run single to tie things at 5-5.
Marlow finished the night with two hits and four RBIs.
The Woodlands went in front 7-5 with runs in the fourth and fifth, but East Texas tied it in the sixth on Marlow's two-run home run and moved ahead to stay when Robinson belted a two-out homer in the eighth.
The Pump Jacks tacked on three more in the top of the ninth when Dickey walked and scored on a double by Brooks Marlow, and Marlow hustled home on Esposito's single.
Don Sullivan, the third of four Pump Jacks pitchers used, earned the win with 2 2/3 innings of scoreless relief.
The Pump Jacks will visit the Texas Marshals tonight and Sunday. Following an off day on Monday, East Texas will host the TCL All-Star Game on Tuesday at Driller Park in Kilgore.
