A Hallsville man was hospitalized in a coma Friday after a motorcycle wreck Thursday at the intersection of Judson Road and East Hawkins Parkway in Longview.
Police said Kevin Heath Puckett, 41, of Longview was taken to Good Shepherd Medical Center with life-threatening injuries after the crash that occurred about 12:30 p.m.
Puckett was traveling westbound in the inside lane of East Hawkins Parkway when he lost control of his 2006 Harley Davidson motorcycle and fell onto the roadway, police said.
Puckett rolled beneath a trailer pulled by a pickup, which was travelling in the outside westbound lane.
The driver of that truck, Aarron Michael McFatridge, 38, of Longview, was unaware Puckett had rolled under the trailer as he made a right turn onto North Judson Road. The trailer dragged Puckett several feet before coming to a stop, according to the police report.
Puckett's wife, Jennifer Puckett, is a band director at Hallsville ISD.
"The HISD family was saddened to hear of the accident. We are very concerned for the Puckett family and praying for the recovery of Kevin," said HISD spokeswoman Carol Greer, adding that staff members have visited with the family.
McFatridge was not issued a citation, and charges are not expected to be filed, police said. The crash remains under investigation.
