Man dies in fiery one-vehicle crash in Rusk County

A Shelbyville man died Sunday afternoon when his vehicle caught fire after striking a bridge in Rusk County, according to officials with the Texas Department of Public Safety.
Arthur Melton Smith, 61, was traveling southbound on U.S. 259 in a 2013 Jeep Liberty when he left the roadway, crashing into a bridge at the intersection of U.S. 259 and County Road 186, DPS said.
Smith was pronounced dead at the scene at about 2 p.m., DPS said. He was taken to Rader Funeral Home in Kilgore.
The wreck is under investigation.
