A Longview man was hospitalized and two people were detained after a shooting Sunday in South Longview.
Longview police responded shortly after noon to a report of several shots fired in the 600 block of Owings Avenue.
Sgt. Jerry Hancock said they found the victim inside a nearby residence suffering from multiple gunshot wounds to his torso when they arrived.
He was taken to Good Shepherd Medical Center where he underwent emergency surgery for life-threatening injuries, said Longview police spokesperson Kristie Brian.
Two people have been detained and taken in for questioning in connection to the shooting but no arrests had been made Sunday evening.
Neighbor Colton Johnson said he heard the shots and initially thought they were fire crackers.
"I heard three or four shots. We didn't pay any attention at first. Then we realized it was gunfire," he said.
Johnson said he never heard any yelling or arguing coming from the residence.
"I just heard shooting like, 'pow pow pow pow,'" he said.
Brian said the shooting remains under investigation.
The victim and the two men detained had not been identified late Sunday evening.
