BRYAN - East Texas didn't do much to help itself while facing the top team in the Texas Collegiate League on Wednesday.

East Texas cut its deficit to 4-3 in the top of the fourth when Joey Armstrong drove in Mark Mathias with an RBI groundout after Mathias led off the frame with a double.
The Pump Jacks tied it the next inning on Pine Tree product Garrett McMullen's RBI double, which drove in Bret Bitow.
McMullen went 2-for-4 in the loss, while Bitow finished 2-for-3 at the plate.
Brazos Valley took command of the game with a four-run sixth inning in which East Texas committed three errors.
Reliever J.J. Franklin took the loss in five innings pitched. Brazos Valley starter Bryce Rutherford earned the win.
