Powerlifting: Pair of Lobos heading to state

LOBOS HEADING TO STATE: Longview powerlifters Jalen Johnson (165-pound division) and Omar French (198-pound division) punched their tickets to the state powerlifting meet on Saturday.
Johnson and French both finished second in their weight classes, and French had the top deadlift in the heavyweight division with a 600 pound lift despite competing at 194.2 pounds.
Longview finished fifth as a team, with Deonte Wall (165) and Travian Jones (181) placing fourth and Clay Layman (181) and Tony Clark (275) finishing sixth. Jeremy Powell and Mark Malone also participate.
French and Johnson will travel to Abilene for the state meet on March 23.
