Rusk County pair charged in copper theft

Two people were being held in the Rusk County Jail Wednesday, accused of copper wire thefts.
Jason Bartley, 36, and Ashley Story, 26, were held on charges ranging from unlawful possession of a firearm by a felon, possession of marijuana and theft of property.
Sgt. David Roberts, spokesman for the Rusk County Sheriff's Department, said items seized during the arrest included transformer tanks, cores, ground wires, meters, clamps, fuse doors, copper and aluminum lines.
Roberts said investigators also recovered a stolen gun, 2005 Dodge pickup, drug paraphernalia and a small amount of marijuana.
Multiple agencies worked the case, including the sheriff's department, Texas Department of Public Safety, Northeast Texas Auto Theft Task Force and Champion EMS.
