Jeremy Morgan Evans, 24, was handed a 20-month state jail sentence after pleading guilty to a 2011 animal cruelty charge involving a dog named "Honey Bee" that drew regional attention
In pronouncing the sentence, Judge Alfonso Charles calls photo evidence of Honey Bee's neck injuries "sickening." Charles said Evans' ex-girlfriend, who was alone for a week in the Kilgore house where the dog was tied with cable, also should have been before his bench.
The plight of the terrier mix, found in July 2011 tethered to a pole, inspired a Facebook rescue page.
Honey Bee, a terrier mix, is now with new owners.
