A Mount Pleasant man was sentenced to eight years in prison Monday after pleading guilty to theft.
Rickey Alton Wright, 39, must also pay restitution as part of his plea agreement with the Titus County District Attorney's Office.
Wright was arrested in December and charged with embezzling more than $250,000 worth of equipment from the Pilgrim's Pride in Mount Pleasant.
Plant managers reported a series of thefts that lead detectives to Wright, who at the time was a maintenance employee at the facility. Detectives recovered approximately $40,000 of the property at various locations returning it to Pilgrims. Evidence uncovered showed the rest of the stolen Pilgrim's equipment was linked to Wright selling the items over the Internet for pennies on the dollar compared to what the equipment was actually worth.
