City of Longview seeks HR director

The city of Longview, through its contract with Strategic Government Resources, has opened applications for the director of Human Resources and Risk Management position - a position left open by the <a href="http://www.news-journal.com/news/local/longview-human-resources-boss-plans-early-retirement/article_a750a3be-aacc-5f1f-b87c-4ce3806cc6b5.html" target="_blank">retirement last month</a> of Karri Hyko.
According to the job listing, which was posted Thursday, the deadline for the first review of applications is 5 p.m. Oct. 4
The position will oversee the HR department for the city, which employs 831 full-time and 45 part-time employees, according to the posting. The posting also included a brochure, pitching the merits of Longview.
According to the posting, qualifications for an exceptional candidate include:
Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field, and 5 years of experience managing human resources, payroll, and risk management operations required.
Master's degree preferred and human resources public sector experience highly desired.
An equivalent combination of education and experience will be considered.
Experience with a fully automated HR system a plus.
National Incident Management System (NIMS) certification is required within one year of employment.
