The Longview Lobos earned a 27-26 win Saturday against an Olive Branch, Miss. team that came into the contest unbeaten (3-0) and ranked No. 4 in the Class 6A Mississippi poll.

The Lobos won on the scoreboard, thanks in large part to the fact that Omar French and his teammates won the battle on the defensive front. French, a junior defensive lineman, earned defensive Player of the Week honors after spearheading a defensive effort that produced nine sacks, 11 tackles for losses, four passes broken up and an interception while holding Olive Branch to minus 29 rushing yards.

French finished the night with seven tackles, three sacks and three tackles for losses to give him 18 tackles, five sacks, eight tackles behind the line of scrimmage and a forced fumble in three games.

Mount Pleasant teammates Cullen Grubbs and K.D. Cannon shared Offensive Player of the Week honors after putting up video game numbers in a 77-34 win over Terrell.

Grubbs completed 21 of 31 passes for 487 yards with nine touchdowns and an interception. Cannon was on the receiving end of five of the touchdown passes and finished the night with 10 catches for 268 yards.

Grubbs tossed scoring strikes of 50, 22, 40, 4, 64, 14, 51, 16 and 79 yards. For the year, he's completed 55 of 87 passes for 883 yards with 13 touchdowns and three interceptions.

Cannon, who has given a verbal pledge to Baylor, hauled in TD passes of 50, 22, 40, 64 and 51 yards. For the season, he has 20 catches for 397 yards and eight touchdowns.

Longview will host Lufkin, and Mount Pleasant visits Kilgore on Friday.
