ET Softball: Kilgore College trounces Alvin, 8-3

<strong>KILGORE COLLEGE 8, ALVIN 3:</strong> GALVESTON - The Kilgore College softball team closed out the Galveston Tournament on Saturday by going 1-2, defeating Alvin, 8-3, while dropping an 8-4 decision to Galveston and suffering a 4-1 setback against San Jacinto.
Kilgore finished the tournament with a 2-3 record.
Against Alvin, Kilgore trailed 3-0 before erupting for seven runs in the fifth inning and adding one run in the sixth. The Rangers banged out 15 hits, including three apiece from Alex Aguilar and Mallory Ford and two each from Lexi Lopez, Mariah Goguen, Lakin Kerby and Hannah Tomme.
Ford doubled three times, drove in a run and scored once. Kerby had two doubles, two RBIs an a run scored. Goguen tripled, singled and drove in two runs. Lopez doubled, drove in a run and scored twice. Aguilar singled three times, drove in a pair of runs and scored once and Tomme singled twice.
Kari Courtney earned the pitching win, striking out three, walking none and allowing no runs on five hits in four innings of work.
In the loss to San Jacinto, Asia Marshall and Ford had two hits apiece, with Marisa Ledkins and Kerby chipping in with one hit apiece. Kerby drove in the lone run of the game for Kilgore, and Bianca Van Vlerah had two stolen bases.
Kayla Calvert took the loss, giving up two earned runs on four hits in six innings.
Lopez homered, doubled and singled in the loss to Galveston. Goguen and Jalla Johnson both doubled, with Johnson driving in a run, and Kerby added one hit and an RBI.
Calvert shouldered the loss, giving up six earned runs on 10 hits with five strikeouts and three walks in six innings.
Kilgore will host Temple in a double header on Wednesday at Stream Flo Field beginning at 1 p.m.
