Kilgore College sweeps Cisco in doubleheader

KILGORE – The Kilgore College softball team earned a pair of one-run wins on Sunday at Stream Flo Park, sweeping Cisco on non-conference action with 9-8 and 5-4 wins.

In the 9-8 win, Ali Harvey and Sara Aguilar banged out three hits apiece to lead a 15-hit Kilgore attack. Harvey doubled and drove in two runs. Jalla Johnson added a double, singled and two RBIs. Aguilar doubled. Asia Marshall had two hits and two RBIs. Bianca Van Vlerah added two hits, and Marisa Ledkins, Hannah Tomme and Mariah Goguen finished with two hits apiece. Goguen and Lexi Lopez drove in runs.

Kari Courtney earned the pitching win, allowing five earned runs in seven innings while striking out four and walking one.

In the 5-4 win, Lopez and Goguen both homered, with Lopez adding a single and finishing with two RBIs. Sara Aguilar singled, Alex Aguilar singled, stole bases and drove in a run, Van Vlerah added a triple and an RBI and Johnson singled.

Kayla Calvert fanned nine in seven innings of work to pick up the pitching win.

On Saturday, KC dropped a pair of games – falling 3-2 to Independence, Kan. And 4-2 to McLennan.

Lakin Kerby homered, Marshall doubled and drove in a run and Sara Aguilar added a single for KC in the loss. Calvert struck out eight, walked two and did not allow an earned run in a complete game loss.

Harvey doubled, singled and drove in a run in the loss to McLennan. Lopez doubled, Mallory Ford singled and drove in a run, and Marshall, KeKe Hunter and Alex Aguilar all had hits.

Courtney sufered the loss, giving up four earned runs while striking out one and walking four.

Kilgore (4-5) will return to action on Wednesday, traveling to Hillsboro to take on Hill College in a double header beginning at 1 p.m.
