Two-Minute Drill: LeTourneau's Glover named Hitter of Week, more

<strong>GLOVER HONORED:</strong> LeTourneau University senior Jourdan Glover was named the American Southwest Conference Hitter of the Week on Tuesday.

The Fort Worth native led the offensive explosion to begin the 2014 softball season. In the season opener, she went 1-for-3 with two runs scored, a walk and a stolen base.

Glover followed that up in the nightcap with a 3-for-4 effort with three runs scored, a double and a home run to complete the doubleheader sweep of Centenary, 11-0 and 12-0.

<strong>COACHES CLINIC:</strong> A football mini-clinic is set for Monday, Feb. 24 at the Longview High School Turf Room featuring Baylor University's Phil Bennett, Jim Gush, Randy Clements and Jeff Lebby.

Food and fellowship is set from 5:30-6 p.m., with the clinic scheduled for 6-8 p.m.

<strong>GOLF TOURNAMENT:</strong> A Youth Advisory golf tournament benefiting Longview World of Wonders, a hands-on discovery center in downtown Longview, is set for March 29 at Wood Hollow in Longview.

The event is a four-person scramble set to begin at 1 p.m.

Entry fee is $85 per player.

<strong>SOFTBALL TOURNAMENT:</strong> A men's softball tournament is set for March 15 at Hinsley Park.

Entry fee is $200, and cash prizes (based on 12 teams entered) of $500 for first place and $200 for second along with T-shirts for third place will be awarded.

The double-elimination tournament will also feature a home run derby.

<strong>BASEBALL CAMP:</strong> Thomas Hitting Academy will host a baseball camp from 10 a.m.-3 p.m. on Monday.

The camp will include baseball drills and an afternoon scrimmage, along with a pizza lunch.

Cost is $74, and the camp is for ages 6-14.

<strong>SPORTING CLAYS:</strong> The Pilot Club of Longview will hold its fourth annual Sporting Clays Tournament at 8:30 a.m. on Saturday at Prairie Creek Sporting Clays.

Registration for the four-man team shoot is set for 7:30 a.m. the day of the event. Entry fee is $100 per person (includes lunch). Guns and shells will be furnished by the shooter.

The event will benefit organizations such as Longview Community Ministries, Windridge Equestrian Center, The Alzheimers Association, Miracle League of East Texas, Mountain High Retreat, Adopt a School, Circle of Friends and Anchor Club scholarships in Longview and Kilgore.
