Kilgore College softball team rallies for 7-5 win

KILGORE - The Kilgore College softball team scored three runs in the bottom of the ninth inning on Sunday, rallying for a 7-5 win over Eastern Oklahoma State College to close out the Ranger Classic at Stream Flo Field.

Kilgore (6-13) trailed 3-0 before scoring once in the bottom of the fourth and twice in the bottom of the sixth. Both teams scored once in the eighth, and after EOSC scored once in the top of the ninth KC won it in the bottom half of the inning.

Kilgore tied the game at 4-4 in the eighth on a Lexi Lopez sacrifice fly. Lopez also doubled in the game.

In the ninth, Lakin Kerby was placed on second to start the inning (international tiebreaker),and she scored on a double by Asia Marshall. Ali Harvey then doubled in the game-winner.

Mallory Ford and Marshall both collected two hits for Kilgore.

Kayla Calvert pitched all nine innings for Kilgore. She struck out eight, walked six and allowed three earned runs.

Kilgore will participate in the Region XIV Crossover Tournament Friday-Sunday at Lear Park in Longview, playing twice each day.

KC will open Region XIV Conference play at Northeast Texas Community College in Mount Pleasant on March 7
