A second person has died after a wreck Wednesday on Interstate 20 near Liberty City.
Nathaniel Gray, 47, of Longview was pronounced dead at the scene of the crash, which happened at about 3:22 p.m. near the 578 mile marker, according to the Texas Department of Public Safety.
A passenger in Gray’s car was taken to Trinity Mother Francis in Tyler. That person later died from injuries sustained in the wreck. The victim’s name has not been released, pending next of kin.
The wreck happened in the eastbound lanes of traffic when a truck with a trailer driven by Jose Gomez, 51, of San Elizario did not control its speed and struck the vehicle driven by Gray, according to DPS.
The impact caused a chain reaction of wrecks that involved three other vehicles.
A driver in one of the other vehicles involved was taken to Trinity Mother Francis with non-life threatening injuries, DPS said.
The crash is under investigation.
