Lobo Stadium will close to the general public effective immediately as renovations continue throughout the stadium, Longview ISD officials said Thursday.

The stadium will reopen once renovations and repairs are complete. There was no timetable for completion as of Thursday.

The repairs, approved in a March board meeting, include the addition of restrooms on the home and visitors side of the stadium as well as restoration and sealing of the concrete beneath the bleacher seating.

In addition, the project includes reconstruction of the girls softball field that includes new dugouts, a new grandstand and bleachers and new fencing and gate as well as a standalone on the home side of the stadium that will primarily be used during softball games.

In March, trustees said the renovations and additions were expected to be completed by the start of the school year in August.

Due to the closure, the Longview Area 7-on-7 and Lineman Challenges have been canceled for the remainder of the year, according to Lobo football coach John King.
