Two children and two adults were injured Tuesday afternoon after a furniture truck crashed into the back of a Big Sandy ISD school bus west of Gladewater, said Texas Department of Public Safety spokeswoman Jean Dark.
The school bus was stopped, with lights activated, and letting students off when the truck hit the bus, the DPS said.
Two children on the bus were transported to Longview Regional Medical Center for minor pain by EMS, officials said. All other children on the bus were released, said Big Sandy ISD Superintendent Scott Beene said.
The bus driver and monitor were taken to the hospital for precautionary reasons, Beene said.
All students and staff members have been released.
The driver and a passenger of the furniture truck were taken to Good Shepherd Medical Center, Dark said.
The trooper at the scene estimated there were about a dozen students on the bus at the time of the crash, Dark said. DPS said ages of the students were not available.
Charges cannot be filed until the investigative report is completed, Dark said. It will take 10 days to finalize the report.
