ET Softball Roundup: Pittsburg falls to North Lamar; Kilgore College splits with Trinity Valley

NORTH LAMAR 10, PITTSBURG 1: PITTSBURG — North Lamar used a pair of four-run innings to take control of things in a 10-1 win over Pittsburg.

The Lady Pirates got singled from Madison Busch, Kaycee Parker, Madison Sansom and Sydney Reynolds in the loss.

Parker struck out 10 and walked six in the loss.


KC SPLITS: ATHENS — The Kilgore College softball team clinched the program's first regional tournament berth, splitting a pair of Region XIV Conference East Division games with Trinity Valley Community College

Kilgore won the opener, 5-4, and dropped a 6-5 decision in the second game.

In the first game, Cailon Palmer banged out three hits and drove in a run to pace the KC offense. Kaitlyn Stebelton, Shelby Edwards, Manda Wilmoth and Kaylie Bush all added hits, with Wilmoth and Bush driving in runs.

Katy Worrell earned the pitching win. She struck out four, walked two and allowed one earned run on five hits.

TVCC walked off with the win in the second game, scoring twice in the bottom of the seventh.

Jo Rivera tripled, doubled and drove in a run in the loss for KC. Hannah Carpenter added a double, two singled and an RBI. Edwards doubled and singled, and Brianna Davis added two hits and two RBI.

Worrell suffered the loss in relief. Renee Jones struck out five and waked one in five innings.

Kilgore (29-21, 17-9) will close out the regular season at home on Saturday with a twinbill against Bossier Parish. First pitch is set for 1 p.m.
