The suspect in a November 2015 standoff at Academy Sports and Outdoors in Longview is expected to enter a guilty plea today.
Nathan David Lanicek, 37, of Longview, faces a two-count aggravated assault against a public servant indictment and burglary of a building. A guilty plea hearing in the case is scheduled for 1:30 p.m. Wednesday in 124th District Court at the Gregg County Courthouse, according to prosecutors.
Police said Lanicek stole ammunition and a container of explosives from the sporting goods store during a break-in at about 3 a.m. on Nov. 17, 2015 before exchanging gunfire with officers. Lanicek had at least one gunshot wound and was treated at a local hospital before he was taken to the Gregg County Jail on Dec. 2. He has remained jailed since that time on $600,000 bond.
