Gregg sheriff warns of marshals service scam

A new scam with callers claiming to be U.S. marshals is targeting Gregg County residents.
Joshua Tubb, Gregg County Sheriff's Office spokesman, said the scammers have people's personal information such as home addresses and dates of birth, making them sound a lot more legitimate than other scammers.
The scammers tell people they failed to appear for a federal summons or jury duty, and if they don't pay a fee, they will be jailed.
Tubb said they claim to be deputy federal marshals from Suite 408 in the 188th District Court in Gregg County.
"We do not have a federal marshal station in Gregg County," he said.
Tubb also said U.S. marshals would not call and demand money.
