Young patients at Christus Good Shepherd Medical Center in Longview will get a special holiday surprise today as fully costumed superheroes — also known as Longview Police Department SWAT team members — will make an appearance.

At 9 a.m. Thursday, Dec. 21, the costumed SWAT team members are set to rappel from the roof of the south tower of the medical center as part of the annual Operation Christmas Cheer.

"This has become an annual tradition for us, and our officers love surprising the children in the windows and then visiting them in their units to deliver gifts," said said Kristie Brian, Longview police social media coordinator.
