Kilgore police seek help finding traffic stop runaway

Dec. 28, 2017 at 4:18 p.m.

Kilgore police are asking for help to find a person who ran away during a traffic stop, according to a department Facebook post.

Officers are looking for Brandon Sheppard, 34, after he got out of a stopped vehicle Tuesday and ran away. He was a passenger in a car stopped for a traffic violation about 11:24 p.m. in the 400 block of New Town Road, police said.

"The officer followed protocol and stayed with the driver of the vehicle, so the passenger got away," according to the Facebook post.

"Most officers know Brandon, so he was easily identified," according to the post.

There are two Gregg County warrants issued for Sheppard's arrest, including one for a parole violation and one for aggravated assault causing bodily injury.

Anyone with information can call Kilgore dispatch at (903) 983-1559 or text KILGORE and a tip to 847411.
