A Gladewater man is in federal custody after police said he and another man sex-trafficked a 13-year-old girl.
Shenandoah West Moneypenny, 34, is charged with using or coercing a minor to engage in sexually explicit conduct to produce “visual depictions” of the conduct. He and Shawn Dale Sanders, 43, of Dallas, were arrested Dec. 18 and will remain in custody until their trials, according to a statement from the U.S. Attorney’s Office of the Northern District of Texas
The Dallas-area victim, 13, told officials that she met Moneypenny online, where he went by “Aiden.” He then began placing Craigslist advertisements looking for men to “meet” the girl. Moneypenny would put the girl in contact with each man. He received 219 replies to the ad, according to the U.S. Attorney’s Office.
In an affidavit, the victim said she had sexual contact with up to four adult men she met this way, including Sanders.
In August, Sanders picked the girl up from her middle school and took her to a park to engage in sexual conduct, according to the statement.
“During this meeting, Sanders took sexually explicit pictures of the victim and sent them to Moneypenny as a trade-off for setting him up with the victim,” according to the statement. “Sanders and the victim met approximately four times after that and engaged in sexual conduct.”
One of the girl’s family members contacted a Garland ISD school resource officer in October after finding the online communications on her laptop computer.
If convicted, the men could serve between 15 and 30 years in prison, pay a $250,000 fine and be on parole for the rest of their lives.
