The Gregg County Sheriff's Department responds to a reported shooting at the Green Top #1 convenience store on U.S. 259 north of Longview on Friday, Feb. 3, 2017.

A person shot by a BB gun Friday at the Green Top gas station in Gregg County is not cooperating with investigators, Sheriff’s Office spokesman Josh Tubb said.

Investigators identified the victim during the weekend, but the case has been shifted to inactive status because the victim and witnesses are not cooperating, Tubb said. The victim’s name has not been released, and the extent of the person’s injuries from the shooting is unknown.

The Gregg County Sheriff’s Office was on the scene of a reported shooting at the gas station north of Longview on Friday evening, but were not able to locate a reported injured person at the time. Tubb said a possible victim had not shown up at any area hospitals.

The report of a shooting at the Green Top gas station in the 7400 block of U.S. 259 came in just before 4 p.m. Friday. Deputies with the sheriff’s office had cordoned off an area around the gas station with crime scene tape as they investigated.

Tubb said that although the case is now being listed as inactive, it could be reopened if any new information comes in to investigators.
