Henderson man killed in weekend wreck

A Henderson man died Saturday after striking two other vehicles and running off the road in Rusk County.
Daniel Hampton, 45, was traveling southbound on U.S. 259 in a pickup when he lost control of the vehicle and struck two stopped vehicles from behind, according to the Texas Department of Public Safety. Hampton’s truck then veered off the roadway and crashed into a mailbox and then a tree.
Hampton was pronounced dead at the scene at 4:30 p.m. by Rusk County Justice of the Peace Pct. 4 Darlene Childress, according to the DPS. The drivers of the other vehicles, identified as Shelitha Pollard, 28, of Henderson and Gabriel Sanchez, 46, of Houston, were unharmed.
Hampton’s body was taken to Crawford A. Crim Funeral Home in Henderson.
