Jefferson ISD to work on innovation plan

Jan. 9, 2017 at 12:34 a.m.

JEFFERSON — Jefferson ISD will take steps toward establishing a District of Innovation plan when it meets Tuesday.

Trustees will take public comment and consider approving a committee to formulate the plan, which allows exemptions from some statutes and is said to increase local control.

The board also will consider approval of its 2015-16 audit report, receive and conduct a hearing on its 2015-16 Texas Academic Performance Report and other items.

The board is scheduled to meet at 6 p.m. Tuesday in the Administration Building at 1600 MLK Drive in Jefferson.
