Gregg County DA seeks to withhold autopsy report in Longview homicide investigation

The Gregg County District Attorney's Office is asking the Texas Attorney General's Office whether it can withhold a preliminary autopsy report in the death of a woman found in her car.
The News-Journal requested a copy of the preliminary report on Dec. 21 after Longview police found Victorria Sam's body in a car in the middle of Duncan Street. Sam's death marked Longview's 15th homicide of the year.
Longview police have said the case is considered a homicide. An official cause of death has not been reported, but Sam's mother said her daughter had been shot.
The DA's office is seeking exemptions to release the report because officials say it is confidential law enforcement information and the subject of an active investigation.
