Upshur County judge sentences 12 people

GILMER — Judge Lauren Parish of Upshur County's 115th District Court has sentenced 12 people this month, District Attorney Billy W. Byrd announced.

Four people were received sentences of deferred adjudication, which means if a person completes his sentence, the charge is dismissed.

The sentences are:

Brandi Colleen Messick, 23, of Ore City, eight years' deferred adjudication for sexual assault of a child;

Christopher M. Womack, 38, of Longview, two years in state jail for possession of a controlled substance measuring less than 1 gram;

Cody Lane McGuire, 31, of Ore City, three years' deferred adjudication for possession of a controlled substance measuring less than 1 gram;

Cesar Ochoa Chavez, 24, of Gilmer, 10 years in prison for driving while intoxicated;

Jennifer Marie Albright, 32, of Gilmer, four years' deferred adjudication for possession of a controlled substance measuring less than 1 gram;

Lacy Jacquelyn Purifoy, 36, of Longview, two years in state jail, five years probated, for two counts of driving while intoxicated with a child passenger;

Mindi Renee Summerton, 39, of Gilmer, eight years' deferred adjudication for burglary of a habitation;

Randell Jay Phillips, 42, of Big Sandy, 52 years in prison for felony murder with a deadly weapon/repeat offender and two years' state jail for burglary of a building;

Roderick Glynn Rainey Jr., 29, of Hawkins, five years in prison for burglary of a habitation;

Russell Brooks Jr., 61, of Gilmer, 10 years in prison for delivery of a controlled substance measuring more than 1 gram but less than 4 grams;

Tracey Evans, 53, of Big Sandy, 35 years in prison for possession of a controlled substance measuring more than 4 grams but less than 200 grams and evading arrest detention with a vehicle with a deadly weapon; and

Whitney Amber Phife, 30, of Diana, 18 months in state jail for unauthorized use of a vehicle.
