Jodi Breckenridge tells a few stories to her guests while touring a building on the Historic Jefferson Ghost Walk in 2012.

Downtown Jefferson is set to roll out the haunted red carpet today for Jodi Breckenridge's semi-annual History, Haunts and Legends Paranormal Conference.

Breckenridge, who owns and runs the town's Historic Jefferson Ghost Walk Tour, hosts the annual event that invites speakers, authors, experts, investigators and lecturers from all aspects of the paranormal field to share their experiences and expertise.

The conference also allows guests to go on nighttime paranormal investigations inside some of Jefferson's most notorious and reportedly haunted locations.

The event is set to kick off at 9:15 a.m. today with Jefferson author and historian Mitch Whitington giving a lecture at the Jefferson Visitor's Center about "Funerals and Mourning in the Old South."

Guests can buy tickets for just the event's daytime activities, which include lectures from numerous guest speakers.

Tickets for the daytime event only are $35, or guests can choose to attend only the lectures they wish to see at $5 each.

Shreveport medium Dakota Lawrence returns this year with a gallery at 4 p.m. Saturday. Cost for that event is $35.

At night, after the end of the lecturers and speakers, guests break into teams of about six people and go on investigations inside some of Jefferson's most haunted buildings: the Hale House, Claiborne House Bed and Breakfast, Old Mill Antique Store, Wise Manor Bed and Breakfast, Segal-Wharton House and Rock House.

Cost for just the nighttime investigation is $50, or guests can purchase a VIP ticket that grants them access to the lectures and investigations for $75.

This year's lecturers and speakers include Steve Coleman, Jennifer Jensen, George Jones, Pete Haviland, Martha Decker, Maria Santos, Teal Gray, Rita Louise, Wendi Cox, Melanie Parent, Larry Flaxman and Olyve Hallmark Abbott.

All lectures are 9:15 a.m. to 4 p.m. in the Jefferson Visitor's Center at 305 E. Austin St. in Jefferson.

Tickets can be purchased at or by calling (903) 601-3375.
