A teacher and coach at Carthage High School was arrested Thursday on a warrant accusing him of having an inappropriate relationship with a student, according to the school district.

Josh Michael Ross, 36, of Carthage turned himself in to the Panola County Sheriff’s Office on Thursday morning on suspicion of having a relationship with a 19-year-old student, according to a statement from Carthage ISD.

Ross has been suspended from the district.

He is being held in the Panola County Detention Center on a charge of improper relationship between educator and student with bond set at $10,000, according to the sheriff’s office.

The school district’s website lists Ross as a football-baseball coach and world history teacher.

Online jail records also show Ross was arrested in June 2014 on an assault/family violence charge.
