A Longview firefighter suffered a minor burn Friday in a fire at a vacant house on Alpine Road, according to the fire department.

Longview Fire Marshal Kevin May said the fire department responded to a call at 10:25 a.m. Friday about a fire in the 1500 block of Alpine Road. The fire was contained within 10 minutes and out within the hour.

An investigation into the fire's cause is still ongoing, May said.

The house had been vacant for months; however, it was recently broken into and the real estate company had planned to board it up Friday, May said. The property was owned by Bowles Properties, but no one lived in the house, May said.

Firefighters did not find anyone inside the house, which was damaged mostly on its back side.

May said the firefighter who suffered the minor burn was able to return to work afterward, and no other injuries were reported.
