GILMER — Pritchett Water Supply has issued a boil water notice for its customers on Sasafras Road, FM 1795 and FM 1002.
The warning was issued Monday morning due to a line break and reduced system pressure in the area, the water company said in a statement.
To make sure all harmful bacteria and other microbes are destroyed, water used for drinking, cooking and making ice should be boiled before it is consumed, the company said. The water should be brought to a vigorous boil for two minutes.
Instead of boiling water, you can also buy water bottles or get water from another suitable source.
The water supply company said it would issue another notice when it is no longer necessary for customers to boil water.
Anyone with questions regarding the situation may contact water supply Manager Robbie Arrington at (903) 734-5438 or (903) 720-4638, or Rex Sweat at (903) 720-2873.
Questions may also be directed to the Texas Commission on Environmental Quality at (903) 239-4691.
