ET Soccer Roundup: Longview girls shut out Rockwall, more

LONGVIEW 2, ROCKWALL 0: Lady Lobo senior Celeste Nunez had a goal, an assist and signed a letter of intent to play college soccer all in one day.

This helped Longview notch its first District 11-6A win Wedneday, 2-0, over Rockwall at Lobo Stadium.

Nunez handed out an assist to freshman Camryn Jacobs less than five minutes into play for a quick 1-0 lead.

Sophomore Carolyn Henderson aided Nunez with a pass and the end result was a goal from 35 yards out with two minutes to play, thus icing the contest for Longview (7-3-1, 1-2)

Sophomore Mallory Parker showed well in her start in goal for Longview, while senior Tatyana Bauer and junior Anna Ward played sound defense.

The Lady Lobo JV improved to 13-0 on the season with a 2-0 shutout of Rockwall in the opener.

Longview is at North Mesquite on Friday.

MOUNT PLEASANT 1, PINE TREE 0: MOUNT PLEASANT — Scoring two minutes into action, the Mount Pleasant Lady Tigers made it stand up, notching a 1-0 shutout of the Pine Tree Lady Pirates on Wednesday night in a makeup of a Tuesday rainout.

It's the second consecutive 1-0 loss in district play for Pine Tree, which falls to 0-2 and 3-10 overall.

Senior goalie Sarah Moore fended off seven of eight shots on goal. Pine Tree was only able to manage three shots at goal.

The Lady Pirates play host to Greenville on Friday night.


LONGVIEW 2, ROCKWALL 1: ROCKWALL — Solid defense from Mac Henderson, William Langston,Carter Sorrels, Jovany Ontiveros, and Raul Torres led the Longview Lobos to a 2-1 win over Rockwall here Wednesday night.

The Lobos got on the board first when Jesus Galvan scored on an assist from Rudy Guitterez. The favor was returned later in the half when Galvan assisted Guitterez for a 2-0 lead.

The win gives the Lobos a perfect 3-0 mark in 11-6A play and an overall record of 11-1-2.

Longview hosts North Mesquite Friday.
