A Longview man has been sentenced to eight years in prison on a charge of aggravated sexual assault of a child stemming from incidents in 2016.
James O. Gilmore, 59, was found guilty Jan. 12 and sentenced this week. A Gregg County jury found him not guilty of four other charges, including aggravated sexual assault of a child and indecency with a child with sexual contact. Gilmore had pleaded not guilty to all charges.
A grand jury indicted Gilmore on felony charges almost a year ago in connection with the assault of a girl younger than 14. The charges span three dates from September 2016 to November 2016.
Longview police arrested Gilmore in November 2016.
