Officials are investigating a morning fire possibly caused by lightning that left a Marshall residence a total loss.

Marshall Fire Chief Reggie Cooper said crews responded at 4:11 a.m to the 4600 block of Forest Trail for visible smoke in a bedroom.

“Firefighters were initially able to make an interior attack, however, due to the fire's intensity, were unable to extinguish the blaze,” Cooper said.

Everyone inside the home was able to get out, and no injuries were reported.

Cooper said the fire is under control, and an ensuing investigation will begin.

“Though the investigation is ongoing and will be detailed, preliminary reports indicate intense lightning in the area,” he said. “The fire damage resulted in a total loss.”
