Three Longview men remained jailed Tuesday after police said one of them returned to the scene of an aggravated robbery to look for a cellphone.

Michael Omar Serrano, 18, Alejandro Juarez, 21, and Erick Martinez, 19, are in the Gregg County Jail on $500,000 bond each, charged with aggravated robbery.

The trio are accused of stealing a vehicle Jan. 20 from outside a home in the 1100 block of Spring Street in Longview, according to police.

During the robbery, a witness said two people shot at him as they got into the vehicle and drove away.

Hours later, Harrison County deputies responded to a call of people shooting a gun in the 2900 block of Amos Drive and saw a car matching the description of the one stolen in Longview.

However, police said dispatchers entered the vehicle identification number incorrectly, and the car didn't show up as stolen.

Later the same evening, Longview officers returned to the scene of the car theft, where they found a man with a flashlight looking for a cellphone.

"Juarez told officers that he was looking for his cellphone that was stolen two or three days ago," police said.

Police said the cellphone Juarez described was the same one the officers found at the initial crime scene earlier in the day.

Longview police were able to and review photographs and body camera footage from the Harrison County deputies.
