ET Basketball: Lobos grab crucial win over North Mesquite, 56-42

Longview controlled the tempo and the scoreboard from the start in a pivotal District 11-6A game against North Mesquite on Friday night.
When the Stallions made a late push, the Lobos closed just as strong.
Behind double-double nights from Jason Bush and Jaylin Brown, Longview grabbed a 56-42 win over North Mesquite in a battle of two teams vying for a playoff position at Lobo Coliseum.
With the win, Longview improves to 19-7 overall and 5-4 in 11-6A action, moving to 5-0 at home in league play with five games left on the regular-season slate. North Mesquite, who took the first meeting, 64-49, drops to 18-12 overall and 4-5 in district play.
Bush led three Lobos in double digits, turning in a game-high 23 points and added 10 rebounds to three blocked shots. Brown had a team-high 12 rebounds for the Lobos, who dominated the glass, 39-26, and rounded out his double-double with 12 points.
Malik Henry followed in double digits with 11 points and Phillip Washington had seven points and four assists for the Lobos, who led 17-7 after the first quarter and 39-33 entering the fourth quarter.
Longview finished 22-of-35 from the free-throw line.
Adam Alonzo led North Mesquite with 15 points, including four threes.
Henry had an and-one and Bush drained two of Longview's three-pointers in the first quarter for the 10-point lead, a margin the Lobos took into halftime.
In the third quarter, Longview missed its first five shots as North Mesquite chipped into the lead. Washington had a coast-to-coast bucket to put Longview up by eight, 35-27, before the Stallions closed the gap with a pair of threes, setting up a six-point game heading into the fourth.
Bush followed a corner three with a three-point play and Haynes King had a putback to cap a 13-0 run for the Lobos to open the fourth quarter for a game-high, 19-point lead.
Longview visits John Tyler on Tuesday while North Mesquite hosts Mesquite Horn.
