Letters on Longview's drug culture, Trump's unfitness

The real heroes
My name is Jeffrey Miller and I am currently serving a 15-year prison sentence for first degree murder. Since becoming incarcerated I have given my life to Christ, I am no longer the criminal I once was. Thank God. I used to be a raging alcoholic. I'm not proud of it but I also used to manufacture crystal methamphetamine.
I know firsthand there is an unseen subculture of meth-cooks that prowl the streets of Longview. They contribute to destroying lives. These people have no concern for human life and their sole concern is cooking their next batch of dope.
Trust me, these people are your neighbors. Converting homes into meth labs, they try to be discreet but the addiction always ends up getting the best of them. I am ashamed for these people, I used to be one of them.
I see the people of Longview that volunteer to help change lives and I can't wait until the day that I am able to contribute to help those in need. These people are the real heroes. To give yourself freely to help your fellow man is one of the greatest gifts you can give, lifting people up instead of destroying them.

Unfit then and now
I find it unusual that President Trump's physical health after an assessment by Dr. Ronny Jackson was labeled as "excellent" (news stories Jan. 10, 13). The doctor answered questions for a solid hour about how good Trump's health condition is at this time.
I can recall 50 years earlier, back in the mid '60s and our country was engaged in a little police action in Southeast Asia. The reason I bring this up is that back then Donald Trump could not pass a physical because of bone spurs. Correct me if I'm wrong, but I just assumed things like bone spurs don't correct themselves. But maybe that wasn't that at all. It could have been that yellow stripe down his back. If he had gone to Vietnam he could have suffered physical problems most Vietnam veterans experience today.
Let me make myself clear: This is my opinion and I paid for it because I answered my country's call. I passed my physical and I didn't have a rich daddy to bail me out.
Trump always wants everything about him so I thought this fits the bill. He is a joke and a disgrace to my country. He has lowered the standards of the Republican party and made a circus sideshow of the office of president.
