The Discovery Science Place in Tyler has closed its doors until Friday after an employee has tested positive for COVID-19.

After an employee tested positive for COVID-19, the Discovery Science Place in downtown Tyler has closed its doors until Friday.

Museum officials announced Saturday on Facebook that the museum would be closed beginning Sunday until Friday. The staff member has not been at the museum since Wednesday.

During the closure, museum staff will perform enhanced cleaning in addition to the museum’s current daily cleaning. Discovery Science Place will reopen at its normal hours Friday, and its new arachnids exhibit will open Saturday as planned, according to the museum announcement.

“We are very sorry for the inconvenience, but hope all understand our desire to safeguard our guests, staff and community,” the Facebook post states.
