Gregg County voters in Saturday’s elections will cast ballots in their traditional precincts, because voting is not countywide for this election, Voter Registrar and Elections Administrator Kathryn Nealy said Thursday.
Nealy was especially concerned that residents in Northeast Gregg County know the referendum on whether to create an emergency services district there for fire protection will only be on ballots in voting Pcts. 4 and 5 — and only on ballots for those who live outside the Longview city limit.
Those polls are Alpine Presbyterian Church, for Pct. 4 voters, and the Judson Community Center for Pct. 5 voters. All polls will be open from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m.
“This is not a countywide election,” Nealy said, contrasting Saturday’s election with recent cycles in which countywide voting allowed people to cast ballots at any poll. “They are going to have to go vote at their assigned polling place on election day.”
A full list of where to vote in Gregg County in other races will be published in Saturday’s News-Journal.
