A Tyler man whose wife said she shot him Tuesday died from the gunshot wound Thursday, and police say his wife is now facing a charge of murder.

Debbie Ann Bryant, 55, of Tyler was being held in the Smith County Jail on a $250,000 bond on a charge of murder connected to the shooting death of her husband, Allen Ferguson, 58, according to the Tyler Police Department.

After officers responded to a shooting at 617 Maxwell Drive on Tuesday morning, Bryant confessed she was the one who had shot Ferguson, police said.

Bryant originally was booked into jail on a charge of aggravated assault with a deadly weapon while Ferguson was in critical condition Tuesday at UT Health Tyler.
