Volunteers and municipal staff have completed the city of Longview’s application for a possible cultural district designation from the state.

Members of the Arts!Longview Task Force announced Wednesday afternoon that their application to the Texas Commission on the Arts has been completed. The state commission will review the applications from across the state and make a decision in the competitive process likely in September.

“The idea to apply for a cultural district designation began in February 2018,” task force chairperson Nancy Murray said, “and the full 26-person task force began working through the extensive process in June 2018. Now, after 16 months of hard work by our dedicated volunteers, our application is complete and has been submitted to Austin.”
