The family of a Marshall Pottery employee who died at work is seeking more than $1 million in a civil lawsuit.
The wife and children of Arturo Gonzalez are represented by Goudarzi & Young law firm of Gilmer.
The lawsuit states that on April 16, Gonzalez, who was a supervisor at Marshall Pottery, entered the kiln to perform maintenance.
While he was inside the kiln, the automated system suddenly closed the kiln doors and the chamber began heating, killing Gonzalez, the lawsuits states.
The lawsuit claims Marshall Pottery failed to safeguard its equipment and failed to have the proper "lockout/tagout" mechanism in place.
Officials at Marshall Pottery were not available for comment.
