Longview ISD has named Dale Bohannon the new principal at Bramlette Elementary.
The grandfather of six said his decision to go back to school was inspired by his grandchildren.
"After being blessed with the opportunity to be a grandparent, I thought it would be rewarding to go to the place where everything you learned – you learned in kindergarten," Bohannon said. "I know that there are some big shoes to fill at Bramlette, and I'm looking forward to getting to the business of educating our children."
The 39-year public education veteran has worked as a principal, teacher and superintendent, most recently in New Waverly ISD, a district of about 900 students. He and his wife Teresa Bohannon, are relocating from College Station.
Bohannon replaces Vernessa Gentry, who retired this spring.
