The Longview ISD board of trustees officers will remain the same after approval at Monday night’s board meeting.
Officers are normally chosen after a May school board election. Longview ISD’s school board election was canceled this year after neither incumbent up for reelection — Place 6 trustee Ted Beard and Place 5 trustee Shan Bauer — drew an opponent.
Place 1 trustee Michael Tubb made a motion to keep the executive officers the same, district spokeswoman Elizabeth Ross said.
Place 4 trustee Ginia Northcutt will remain the board president, and Bauer will remain vice president.
Place 3 trustee Chris Mack will continue as board secretary, while Tubb keeps the vice secretary post.
Northcutt also announced that Gov. Greg Abbott asked Superintendent James Wilcox to be in Austin for the Wednesday signing of House Bill 3, also known as the school finance bill, which Wilcox did.
